National Health & Safety Advisor – Civils & Highways

£62,000 + Car/Allowance

A great opportunity has opened up for a confident, hands-on Health & Safety professional to join a well-established name in the civil engineering and highways sector. The Role

Reporting into the Head of SHEQ, you’ll support a range of highways and civils projects from reactive maintenance to major infrastructure upgrades. This is a highly visible role with the opportunity to directly impact standards on site and help drive a proactive, positive safety culture.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the development, implementation and review of health & safety procedures across multiple sites
• Carry out site inspections and contribute to project safety reviews and action planning
• Identify and manage SHE risks, ensuring proportionate controls are in place
• Create audit and inspection packs tailored to specific project risks and environments
• Monitor and close out non-conformances, tracking corrective actions to completion
• Conduct internal audits of minor works as required and support site teams with findings
• Keep up to date with current legislation, guidance and best practices
• Promote engagement and shared responsibility for safety across project teams

What We’re Looking For

• At least 3 years’ experience in a Health & Safety role within civils, construction or highways
• NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent
• Strong working knowledge of SHEQ legislation
• A proactive, visible presence on site – able to build rapport with site teams and lead by example
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationally (balanced travel, not excessive)
